Classic Car Typography

A while back I went to a classic car fair as I do love a vintage set of wheels. It’s the outrageous element of cars from the 50’s to the 80’s that I love, pushing design to its limit and expressing a definite personality through the car you drive. Fog-horning your perception of who you are whilst you drive to the supermarket.

One thing I particularly like is the typography used for car badges; light, calligraphic and sophisticated.

The Coupe de Ville (second row, pink) was like a boat and I have no idea exactly how you would drive that around the UK. However it is the car Don Draper buys in Mad Men so I’m pretty sure I’d find a way to sail it around the nations straightest roads in my most frou-frou petticoat.
