Hello! I’m Laura, aka Neon Peaches. I’m self-taught having studied Art History at university, but have always scribbled in the margins of my notebooks.
My work always starts from a physical sketch or drawing, which I will take into Photoshop or Illustrator and build on, although I do also work in ink and paint. Influence comes from everywhere but mainly 1950s – 1980s design, fashion old and new, fashion illustration and photography, people I like the look of in the street and advertising imagery. I’m interested in how we present ourselves, how women are represented in visual media and how we express our place in the world through clothing and creative output.
I have delivered art and craft workshops for both children and adults in subjects raging from painting t-shirts to creating beaded flowers. Alongside my artistic practise I love to sew, knit and crochet as a way to relax and as an alternative way to make things.
I am currently studying for my Masters in Illustration from Falmouth University, investigating ideas of the Self, Feminism and how we construct our own image.
You can buy my designs here and I love to hear from people interested in what I do. I have previously created illustrations for Amelia’s Magazine, exhibited at Space-2 Gallery in Watford and taken private commissions for numerous clients. These have included commemorative illustrations, poster designs and wedding stationary – including my own! Do get in touch if you like what I create via firstname.lastname@example.org.
